Launch of US State Climate and Land Use Guide
In the fight against climate change, states aren’t waiting. They’re leading.
By exercising their authority under the U.S. Constitution, state governments are influencing the future of climate policy and action.
The U.S. Climate Alliance built a powerful resource helping states reduce emissions while bolstering resilience. CRC was glad to support this effort.
Climate and Land Use Planning: A Policy Guide for U.S. States and Territories
The Guide combines the latest research from across the U.S. on fighting climate change at the state level.
Packed with actionable steps and case studies, the Guide is a resource to help governors and states better understand how to use and manage land to reduce climate pollution and build resilience.
A few of the impactful land use policies, practices and programs highlighted throughout the guide include:
· Planning for affordable housing and strategic growth while protecting natural and working lands in Colorado to meet the needs of rapid population growth, inadequate housing supply, and housing affordability challenges.
· Climate-friendly and equitable community planning requirements in Oregon, including required zoning for areas where residents, workers, and visitors can meet most of their daily needs without having to drive.
· Integration of climate adaptation in community investment and incentive programs in Vermont, revitalizing communities by promoting compact development patterns, reducing car dependency, and protecting surrounding forests and working lands.
Thanks to our dynamic partnerships with clients across government, nonprofit, corporate, and philanthropic sectors, CRC is primed to support states that are leading climate action.
